CURRENT & FRAMELESS CURRENT

Current Cabinets are affordable quality cabinetryCurrent allows you to enjoy striking, durable cabinets while staying within your budget. Current is an excellent value with solid construction. Choose from a selection of beautiful design details and cabinet accessories. The beauty of real wood deserves a hand-applied finish to bring out its finest character and color. Current cabinets are sanded, stained and hand-wiped to bring out the natural grain of the wood. Current also has a line of “Frameless” cabinets that JM uses in its custom kitchen designs.

A family tradition that began in 1947, in the garage of cabinetmaker Tom Hammer, has evolved into one of the largest custom cabinet manufacturers in the U.S. To this day, Crystal Cabinet Works is still owned and operated by the Hammer family, with Jeff Hammer, along with his daughters, continuing the tradition of fine custom cabinet making. Every cabinet is still built one at a time, just for you. From shaping each piece of molding to routing the cabinet doors, and assembling each box, they believe their strength lies in their extended family of true craftsmen located in central Minnesota. They take great pride in their knowledgeable, hard-working people, who have learned the cabinetmaking trade over several decades and continue to pass the craft on to future generations. The garage has gotten a lot bigger, but their approach to the work hasn’t changed a bit.

GreenQuest earns all of the available points for the green building rating systems that we’ve reviewed, including LEED and the National Green Building Standard as well as local programs.

The acronym LEED refers to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a set of green building criteria established by the US Green Building Council for various types of construction projects. Under the LEED system, entire structures or projects become third-party certified, not single products. The available points for cabinetry are a small part of the overall points needed to certify the project. The point structure varies by LEED system and type of project.

At JM Kitchen and Bath Design, we use Green building products whenever clients request them for their Colorado kitchens.

Crystal’s GreenQuest cabinets were designed to earn eligible points for cabinetry under all LEED systems and will contribute toward project certification, depending on the green attributes specified.

Under LEED-2009, Crystal’s GreenQuest cabinetry can earn points for recycled content (particleboard and MDF), regional materials (if within a 500-mile radius), rapid-renewability (bamboo), FSC-certified wood (various species), and low-emitting wood coatings (water-based finishes) and low-emitting composite wood products (Green-Core).

Under LEED for Homes, Crystal’s GreenQuest cabinetry can earn points for recycled content (particleboard and MDF), FSC-certification (various species), and no-added urea-formaldehyde resins (Green-Core). (Note: LEED-H does not allow points to be earned for cabinet finishes.)
